Don graduated from Halifax West High School and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Commerce from SMU. It was from there Don found his true passion in the funeral profession. He started his career with Halifax Funeral Home, from there he joined his lifetime friend and business partner, John Snow at Snow and Co. Funeral Home. Don’s career with Snow’s Funeral Home spanned over 50 years, serving the people of Halifax with a tremendous amount of pride and compassion. He loved golf and hand ball, having memberships at Ashburn Golf Club and Bayer’s Road Racquet Club. His knowledge of the city of Halifax and the people he served were exceptional and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” (Bishop); daughters, Lesley (Jeff Vogt), Laurie (Jey Gorman), and Sylvia; grandchildren, Megan and Charlie Little, all of Halifax.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 2, 2023 from 4-8pm, funeral service will be on Thursday August 3, 2023 at 11am, both in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Private family burial will be in Upper Caribou River Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Halifax or a charity of choice.
