Diana Marie Purcell

We are shocked and saddened to announce the passing of Diana Marie Purcell, 77, of Portuguese Cove, Nova Scotia on July 28. She was predeceased by her parents, Laurie and Edmae Wheeler of Sackville NB, and is survived by her husband of 56 years Ron, her sons Scott (Kerin) and Kirk (Joleen), grandchildren Justin, Emma, Alexandra, Kathryn, and Wyatt, and her siblings, Frances (Ken), Raymond (Pauline), Bill (Brenda), Marlene (David), and Peter (Anne) and countless nieces and nephews.

She was unfailingly kind and thoughtful, and had an infectious laugh that made everyone feel lighter to be near her. She spent her life surrounded by the love of her family, both near and far. We should all be so blessed as to feel the love that Ronnie and Diana enjoyed in their life together. They cared for each other in large ways and small, and were an example of a partnership that was to be envied. Their joy was shared with all in their family, and their grandchildren were a source of endless delight. Each grandchild spent whole afternoons snuggled in Nanny’s lap while she rocked and played with them. We were all her “Dears” and were dear to her, and for that, we feel so very fortunate. We feel her absence in everything we do.
