Deborah Ann McLane, age 60, died at home in Halifax, NS on December 20, 2016. She is survived by her husband J Thomas McLane, daughter Brenna Ruth, son Jared Thomas, and by her brothers Terry Craig, Dennis Craig and Glen Craig. She was predeceased by her parents Lionel G and Nancy May Craig.
Deb worked as a neurosurgery physiotherapist at Capital Health for over 35 years, caring not only for patients with often debilitating physical challenges, but providing them with encouragement and hope to persevere through difficult life challenges. The last five years of her career were spent as a professional practice coordinator for physiotherapy, a position she respected and which challenged her to not only improve patient care, but to enhance the overall patient experience. She was very dedicated to her profession, her patients and colleagues. On any given day, her smiling face said it all.
Deb’s personal life mimicked her professional career. Her children were her life, which were displayed for all to see. She loved to garden and spent many hours enjoying her efforts both in Halifax and in Port Mouton. Her flowers seemed to radiate the beauty she extolled from her heart. Deb could often be seen on her porch swing on Robie St admiring her flowering dogwood. She loved beach walking and hiking, and in later years took to bird watching. Deb loved life. She exuded love and kindness and made all those around her better individuals. She will surely be missed by all. The world has lost but the universe has gained. Thank you, Deb.
Visitation will take place at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St, Halifax, NS on Tuesday December 27 from 6-8 PM. Chapel service will be on Wednesday December 28 at 11 AM, Rev. David MaGinley officiating. Cremation has taken place.
