David Robert Sampson

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David Robert Sampson on Tuesday September 12th, 2023, in Winnipeg after a brief illness. David was the beloved son of the late Roy and Shirley Sampson. We take comfort in knowing they are now together.

David was kind-hearted and made friends easily. He loved being around people and when he wasn’t watching his beloved hockey team, the Winnipeg Jets or hosting friends around a campfire he was playing golf, a sport he continued to enjoy until very recently. Like his uncle, he enjoyed gardening and Christmas and was well known in his neighbourhood for his elaborate Christmas decorations.

He faced several health challenges throughout the years, but always met them with tenacity and a stubborn will. In fact, he considered himself quite lucky and named his cherished cat accordingly.

David is survived by his loving partner Shirley Boxall (Winnipeg), his brother Greg Sampson (Marian) and his sister Judy Bishop (Richard). He will also be deeply missed by his nephews Jonathan and Tristan Sampson, Alex Cameron and nieces Elise Sampson and Alison Langelaan (Neils) as well as his great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Monday October 30th, 2023 at 2:00pm in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville NS.
