Age 73, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2018. David was born May 28, 1945 and was the only child of the late Nicholas and Sylvia (DeMone) Power. He worked for and retired from Nova Scotia Power and then dabbled in Real Estate during his retirement.
David was always involved with sports, whether it be playing, coaching or as a fan. He spent a lot of his time at a rink, at a ballfield, on a golf course or watching his beloved Habs. Never one to sit still, he always enjoyed taking a drive in his car, meeting the guys for coffee or dropping in on friends for a visit.
Willing to go above and beyond to help a friend in need was something David often did. If someone needed a place to stay or help to get back on their feet, he was more than willing to lend a hand for as long as he was needed.
For the last 20 years he enjoyed his winter activities in Florida. He enjoyed his time with friends from Halifax as well as other snowbirds and locals he met in his travels. He would spend time driving around the state, visiting the racetracks, participating in the morning meeting at the Mayor’s roundtable, at the beach or on the golf course.
Over the past few years Dave perfected the role of supervising his friends while they were doing jobs around their properties. He had a keen eye for quality work while sitting there watching all that was going on around him.
He was everyone’s friend and will truly be missed by all those who knew him no matter if they were a long time friend or a casual acquaintance.
A very special thank you to those at the Halifax Infirmary Unit 5.2 with special mention to Dr. Jack, Dr. Laz and Keith for their great care. Everyone working in 5.2 were professional and compassionate. The 5.2 Group are truly a class act!
Cremation has taken place. Per his request, there will be no visitation, no flowers and the funeral service will be held on Friday, July 6th at St. Catherine’s Church on Bayers Rd at 2:00 pm. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
