Gwynne-Timothy, Crystal Jean – We sadly announce the passing of our dear and beautiful mother, Crystal Jean, age 87 on October 7, 2016 at the Bedford Northwood, Ivany Place. She was born August 22, 1929, and was the only child of John R. and Rita (Dillman) Merrick, Halifax NS. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth R. (Tim) Gwynne-Timothy in 2004.Mom graduated from Dalhousie with a Commerce degree in 1950, worked for six years at the Provincial Department of Labour, then became a stay at home mother for her children, Susan (Pat Connors), John (Abbie) and Peter (Cheryl). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Danny, Glenn and Laura Connors; Thomas, Tiffany, and Kenneth Gwynne-Timothy and Adam Gwynne-Timothy and a great grandson, Zachary Connors. Mom was active in school and college organizations, serving on the student council at QEHS for three years, the last year as Head Girl. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity, serving as Chapter President in her senior year at Dalhousie. She was a volunteer at the IWK Health Centre for many years in the Kermesse Painted Articles group, a past member of the Contemporary Art Society, member of Art Bethany Painting Group and participated in art shows with these groups and the Senior’s Art Gallery. She was an active member of St. James ACW, serving as Secretary for many years. Mom was also a member of Ashburn Golf Club and the Twenty Leaguers Bowling group until her dementia prevented participation. A memorial service will be held at 1pm Tuesday October 11th at St. James Anglican Church 2668 Joseph Howe Drive. Internment in the chapel Columbarium with a reception to follow in the Old Ashburn Golf Club, 3250 Joseph Howe Drive, Halifax. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice. A special thank you to the nurses and care givers at Fishermans Landing, Ivany Place in Bedford and prior to that at Ora’s Guest House in Dartmouth. Also, many thanks to Crystal’s extended family and friends who have been such an important part of her life.
