COLIN JAY BUSTARD (62) - Bedford, NS passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Friday, June 18, 2021 in the ICU at the VG Site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in North York, Ontario, he was the eldest son of the late Charles and Mary (Olsen) Bustard of Saint John, NB.
He is survived by his faithful wife, Valerie (Jennings) Bustard of 15 years but best friend of 28 years whom he loved with all of his being; his only brother, Bradley (Janet Miller) Bustard of Bloomfield, NB; niece Ashley Bustard of Oromocto, NB and nephew Brent Bustard (Suzanne) of Saint John, NB; his grandnephews Kyler, Charles and Theodore.
Colin’s love of education led him to become a graduate of the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Education. He obtained his MBA from Dalhousie University and held the position of Director of Finance and Administration for the Halifax Chamber of Commerce for the past 18 years. He was dedicated to any position he held and a leader in commerce.
Colin attended Calvary Temple and Crossroads Cathedral in Saint John, NB and later became a member of the Full Gospel Church serving as Deacon for 3 years and Usher for many more. He was loved by many who knew him and encouraged those around him. His faith sustained him.
Colin was a quiet, kind, patient man with a sensitive heart and sense of humor. He loved reading history and enjoyed trivia. Having lived in Calgary for 3 years working at Carved In Stone, he later drove across Canada to return to his sweetheart in Halifax whom he could no longer live without. He loved to travel with his wife and GoPro camera visiting such places as the snow fields of Alberta, Bermuda, Bahamas, Vancouver, Alaska and Yukon. As a movie buff, Disney World and Universal Studios were his favorite destinations.
His family would like to thank all the dedicated nurses and doctors involved with his care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre over the past 17 months in the Divisions of Cardiology, Nephrology and Hematology/Oncology.
In keeping with Colin’s wishes, there will be no visitation. (Cremation has taken place.)
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 5th at 1 pm at the Full Gospel Church (2256 Larry Utech Blvd, Bedford). Covid restrictions will be in place and Pre-Registration is required.
