Age 57, of Halifax, passed away peacefully, with husband Bill by her side, on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at the QE II Health Sciences Center. Christine will be greatly missed by her husband William (Bill) Laurence and son Evan, Halifax; sisters Stephanie Coffin (Dave), Fredericton and Erika, Halifax; Parents-in-law Patricia and Steven Osterman of Trois-Rivières; Sisters-in-law Kelly Laurence (Jeffrey Barta), Oshawa and Jennifer Osterman (Bayard Whittall), Miami; Brothers-in-law Michael Osterman, Trois-Rivières and Bradley Osterman (Mélanie Frégeau), Beaconsfield; Nephews Eric Coffin (Andrea McAnany), Fredericton and Alex Coffin (Hope McLeod), Edmonton; Nieces Hazel Barta and Emma Osterman; Nephew Alexander Osterman; Great-nephew Gavin Coffin; Great-niece Jenna Coffin; as well as uncles, aunts and cousins in Canada, Spain, and Germany. Christine was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Renate (née Selbstaedt) Williams.
Following receipt of a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of King’s College, Christine began her career at the Times-Transcript in Moncton. Christine ultimately returned to university studies and obtained a Master in Library and Information Studies degree from Dalhousie, following which she enjoyed a lengthy career with Maritime Telephone & Telegraph (later Bell Aliant). Christine was known for her positive outlook, one she maintained despite longstanding challenges associated with Polycystic Kidney Disease.
She had an affinity for cats, chocolate, the German language, mystery novels, and flower gardens. Above all, Christine will be remembered for her love of family.
A celebration of life is being held on Sunday, October 13 at 2pm from Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
The family expresses its appreciation to the physicians, nurses, and staff of the Halifax Infirmary site for the treatment, care and support Christine received during her final days.
