Predeceased by her husband Tom (2004), she was mother of Leslie Hopkin (David) and Stephanie Laird (Sam), grandmother to Tom, Ian, Sarah, Freya, Tam and Vita, and great grandmother to James and Olivia.
Helen was born in Truro, Nova Scotia, the daughter of Mary and Wilfred Nichols. She was sister to the late Gordon Nichols (Helen), and Robert (Rosemary).
Our mother was much loved by all her knew her. She was an artist, gardener and lover of classical music. An Acadia graduate, she had a career in writing, broadcasting and producing on the radio in Montreal during the late 1940’s and early 50’s. Her favourite place was the family cottage at Shortts Lake.
Her family would like to thank the caring staff at Bradford Hall, Parkland, Clayton Park and nurses Honey, Therese and Tanya for their kindness at the Infirmary.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Feed Nova Scotia.
