We are saddened to announce the passing of Brian Walter Joseph MacKenzie of Middle Sackville, Nova Scotia, on April 5, 2019. Brian was born in Yarmouth on October 25, 1959, to parents Gerald and Corinne MacKenzie of Yarmouth, and spent the majority of his childhood in Lower Sackville. Brian was predeceased by his sister, Michelle MacKenzie.
Brian was a man of many passions and hobbies, which included travelling, hunting, golfing, scuba diving, and construction. Of his numerous accomplishments, Brian was most proud of the family he built with his wife Lynda.
Brought together after previous marriages, Brian and Lynda were together for 25 memorable years, and seamlessly blended their families together into one with Brian’s son, Ryan MacKenzie, and Lynda’s two children, Tara Bremner and Jason Bremner. In more recent years, he became a proud Poppy to Amari, Ellie, and Londyn – all of whom he spoiled endlessly and could do no wrong in his eyes.
Brian and Lynda travelled the world together, but no destination brought Brian more joy than summer days down at the lake with his family. Brian would drop everything to have his family together on the lake to go tubing or water skiing, followed by a family barbeque.
Always there with unfunny jokes that somehow got a laugh every time because of the smile and energy that followed behind it; he was never discouraged and always put the needs of others ahead of his own.
Brian was a loyal employee of Maritime Paper Products for almost 40 years. When he wasn’t working or spending time with his family, he was planning his next hunting trip with Bill or headed to the camp with the boys, on the pretense of going hunting.
Brian said that he lived a life with only one regret, that he didn’t meet Lynda sooner.
The funeral will be held at JA Snow Funeral Home on Lacewood Dr. on April 11th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. A special thank you to Drs. Lorne Marsh and Mary MacNeil for their care and compassion.
