HULL, ANNIE JOSEPH - 95, died peacefully on September 27, 2010 at Arborstone Enhanced Care on Purcell’s Cove Road in Halifax. Annie was born, the second daughter of Margaret and John Harrington on November 11, 1914 in Carbonear, Newfoundland. Prior to moving to Halifax she worked as a school teacher in various communities across Newfoundland, often where she was the only teacher in one room schools teaching all grades. It was during one of these posting that she met her late husband Austin. They moved to Halifax where they were married in 1950. In Halifax, she worked as a hair dresser and a school teacher until 1964 when she opened her own hair salon that she operated until she retired. She was predeceased by two brothers William and Michael and two sisters Mary and Agnes. She is survived by one son Gerald, his wife Sandra Grebeldinger, two sisters Angela Murray and Margaret Harrington, one brother Gordon, all of Carbonear Newfoundland, as well as many nieces and nephews. Annie will be remembered for her kind heart and gentle ways and will be greatly missed by all. A special thanks to her very special friend Rose Mathieu and to the staff of Arborstone Enhanced Care who brought special joy to her last years.
Annie is resting at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 29 between 6:00pm and 9:00pm. Funeral service will be held at St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 26 Purcell’s Cove Road, Halifax, on Thursday September 30 at 10:00am followed by internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
