It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Andrew in his home in Lantz, Nova Scotia on January 17th, 2013. Born on April 3rd, 1984 in Calgary, Alberta, Andrew and his parents returned to Cole Harbour one year later where he was raised with his younger brother, Daniel and sister, Amanda.
Andrew was a very athletic and outgoing individual who lived life to the fullest. Among many things, he had a passion for hockey and grew up playing on the Cole Harbour AAA teams from Novice until Bantam, and played for Auburn Drive High School hockey team. A very charismatic and loving individual, Andrew enjoyed many activities with his family and friends whether they were enjoying a weekend away camping, taking a ride on his motorcycle, four wheeling and swimming at the family’s cottage, hunting and fishing, or just catching a movie with close friends and family. Andrew’s easy going personality made him a great bartender and he made many great friends over the years while working at The Dome and Peddlers in Halifax.
Andrew graduated from Auburn Drive High School in 2002, followed his passion and love for cars, and became a mechanic, graduating from the Nova Scotia Community College at the top of his class. He worked at O’Reagans for six years and was recognized by the GM Grand Master Technical Awards numerous times. He recently moved to a new position with Emergency Health Services.
Andrew was married to Stephanie (Hinch) in 2007 in a romantic wedding in Mexico. In 2009, Andrew and Stephanie welcomed their daughter Aubree to their home. He was immensely proud of his daughter and he starting spending his free time taking her to swimming lessons, crawling around on the floor with her, and reading her stories.
Andrew is survived and mourned by his wife Stephanie (Hinch), and his daughter Aubree. Andrew is mourned by his parents Gordon and Julia (Hammonds Plains), his parents’ in-law Tony and Sally (Lake Echo), his bother Daniel (Hammonds Plains), his sister Amanda (Montreal), and his brother in-law Robert (Lake Echo). Andrew is deeply missed by his grandfather Reginald Curren (Halifax – paternal) and grandmother Kathleen Holland (Kitchener – maternal). Andrew is lovingly remembered by his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from around Canada and the United States. Andrew is predeceased by his best friend Steve Kinch.
Andrew was always there to support and protect his family and friends; his family was the centre of his life. Andrew is well loved by all of his large family and his wide group of friends. No words can express how greatly he will be missed.
