MacDonald, Allan Peter – 93 Halifax passed away peacefully in the midst of family on Thursday April 15, 2010 at ParkStone Enhanced Care on Parkland Drive. Born in Burgeo , Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Daniel and Sarah (Miles) MacDonald. He is survived by his son David (Cathy) Halifax and beloved grandson, Robert. He is also survived by his sister-in- law, Loretta White; brother-in-law, Gerard White (Joan); sister-in-law, Megdeline (Raymond Vickers) and a large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne (White); brothers, Clyde, Daniel, Jacob, Onslow, and Seward; sister, Vera (Moulton). As a young man, he became a Merchant Seaman. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the start of the second World War and served on the destroyer St. Laurent. Afterwards, he perfected the craft of stonemasonry and worked on the restoration of many historic sites such as Historic Properties, Citadel Hill, The Brewery Market, etc.After his retirement, he joined Bill Palmer as a volunteer on the restoration of The Old Burying Ground Cemetery in Halifax. Visitation will be Sunday April 18th between 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive in Halifax. The funeral service will be held in St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Argyle Street (Grande Parade) in Halifax at 1:00p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010 with Rev.Dr. Paul Freisen officiating. Interment will be in St.John’s Cemetery immediately following the service. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to charity of your choice.
