Nicholas C. Bellios M.D. passed away peacefully on November 26, 2021 with his family by his side. Nick was born on September 18, 1929 in Akron, Ohio toChrist N. and Angelike Bellios. Nick will be deeply missed by his loving wife Verna Bellios, their daughter Christine Stevenson (Phil), son Nick (Randi) and beloved dog Beau. Nephew, Christopher Bellios, nieces, Joanna Wozniak and Caroline Bellios . Nick was a loving grandfather to Brooke Stevenson, Will, Bradley and Ryder Bellios. Mark Stevenson (Shannon) and Jackie Stevenson Bucher (Tim). He drove to and from countless hockey games, volleyball games, practices and other activities for his children and grandchildren. Always their biggest supporter.
In addition to his parents Nick was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Aristotle and Kristine Bellios along with other family and close friends.
Nick was a kind and generous husband, father and doctor. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University where he received his BS, MS and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees. Born, raised and educated to be a lifetime Buckeye fan. Nick and Verna met in St. Louis, MO. while he was a resident physician at St Louis City Hospital and she was beginning her career as a registered nurse.
Nick practiced medicine for over 40 years in Lake County, IL. He was an active member of the American Medical Association and Lake County Medical Society along with serving on numerous committees at Victory Memorial Hospital (Waukegan IL) including President of the Medical staff and Medical Director of the Chemical Dependency Unit. Nick also supported his community by serving as a Member and President of Waukegan District School Board of Education. When he wasn’t working, Nick loved to fish the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
Memories of him will be ever present and a Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
