Michael Sanzone, 67, passed away on February 10 at home. He lived much of his life in Waukegan and more recently in Gurnee. He graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1961 and met his future wife, Margaret Samuelian, at a basketball game. They married in 1967. He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering and finished his degree at National-Louis University. The ultimate salesman, Mike worked for many different businesses over the years and owned an American Family Insurance business for several years. In retirement, he was a beloved school bus driver for the Woodland School Bus Company. Mike was a deacon at various Roman Catholic churches for 25 years and was involved in the SPRED Community for many years. He was a member of the Army Reserves and the National Guard. With his family, he took part in plays put on by St. Bartholomew Church. Mike enjoyed reading, photography, travel, ham radio, and his many technological gadgets. He especially loved his time with his grandchildren. His family and friends will miss his endearing personality, warmth, zest for life, and sense of humor. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Margaret Sanzone; his children, Marc Sanzone (CA) and Melissa Denfrund (Gurnee); his grandchildren, Chloe Sanzone, Sammy Sanzone, and Jayden Denfrund; one sister Eleanora Loechelt; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ann Sanzone; his sisters, Mildred Regenauer, Rose Cappadona, and Josephine Burris; and his son-in-law, Jason Denfrund. Visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 North Cemetery Road, Gurnee, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, and the funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 16, at St. Patrick Church, 15000 Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth. Interment will be at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association , www.diabetes.org, or to the American Heart Association .
