Lyle Alan Tofteland

Lyle Tofteland, 81, passed away on 10/31/2023. Lyle was born on 10/16/1942 to Lily Tofteland in Watertown, South Dakota. After graduating from Magnolia high school, he went on to join the U.S. Navy. After Navy boot camp he was stationed to Japan. It was at this time that he met and fell in love with Michiko. They were married in Japan and were with each other through all of life's ups and downs. Lyle and Michiko would go on to have 3 children, Christine (Bill) Bertram, Cindy (Brian) Greenwaldt, Tim (Michelle) Tofteland, and 7 grandchildren. Lyle was a wonderful father, husband and grandfather. He always taught us great work ethics, discipline and supported us all throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties of our lives. When Lyle wasn't working, he would always be working on home projects, tinkering in the garage, listening to music and enjoying his dogs. Lyle was predeceased by his wife, Michiko, parents, Lily Tofteland and Walter Tofteland, sister, Joan Michelson. He is survived by children, Christine (Bill) Bertram, Cindy (Brian) Greenwaldt, Tim (Michelle) Tofteland, Grandchildren, Katie Bertram, Will Bertram, Ryan (Becky) Cox, Matthew Cox. Corey (Micaela) Greenwaldt, Tuesday Tofteland, Vinny Tofteland, great-grandchildren, Finn and Liam Greenwaldt, sister, Lynna (Ron) Christensen, brother-in-law, Wayne Michelson, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will take place on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 2:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031.
