After a long goodbye, our beloved Wendy left us quietly moving to a place of peace. Wendy spent the last five years living with early onset dementia. In the early years of her diagnosis we were devastated and overwhelmed with her decline. In the last few years our hope was to provide a peaceful environment and capture a moment of memory with her, one that she could smile at with the hopes of bringing comfort and support.
Wendy was born in Guelph, Ontario on October 26, 1945 to Matt and Margaret Connor. She was a lifelong resident of Guelph. She is predeceased by her beloved husband William (Bill) Darmon in 2001, her parents Matt (1969) and Margaret Connor (1991) and her sister Margaret (Fred) Bryant (2014). Wendy is survived by her brother Jimmy (Gail) Connor, Matt Connor (Manny Lagda), her nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews; Bill’s daughters Valerie (Sean), Maria (Glen) and Jacinta (Mary) of Ireland and England, and siblings Kathleen (Ray) and Tony (Agnes); and Bill’s grandchildren.
We will be eternally grateful to the staff and friends of Riverside Glen Long Term Care, particularly those of the Nichol and Arthur neighbourhoods. Your care and support of our cherished Wendy over these last few years was comforting to all of us. Donations appreciated to the Waterloo Wellington Alzheimer Society or to the Guelph Humane Society.
Family and friends will be received at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin Street North, Guelph, Ontario, on Saturday, December 21, 2019 from 10:30 am until noon. Service in the chapel at noon. A reception will follow at the funeral home. She was loved by many and will be missed. “Love begets love.”
