He resided in Guelph with his wife of 40 years, Lynn.
Proud father of Colin (Crystel) and Jade (Jonathan). Enthusiastic and proud “Grandpa Terry” to Ella and Niall. Faithful walking friend (and snack-handler) to his grand-dog, Toby.
Brother of Mark (Cathy), Pat (Rita), Kevin (Monique), Joanne (Jake). Predeceased by his parents Ronald and Rolande and by his brothers, Brian and Ricky.
Terry was an avid walker (and talker) and was quick to lend a hand (or ear) to a neighbour, make you a cup of coffee, help out with ambitious home improvement projects, and make you laugh. He was kind and generous with his time. He was a jack-of-all-trades and was known for fixing and building just about anything. He enjoyed Northern Ontario, and grew up in Sudbury, where he worked as a locomotive engineer for CN Railway.
He was an amazing dad, who encouraged his children to pursue what they loved. He turned the family’s rural 2-acre property into an adventure for his young family. He enjoyed backyard cross-country skiing and skating while his children were growing up, building tree cabins, firepits, and baseball fields. He once made a homemade balance beam for his daughter, and he annually supervised too many pool parties and eventually the Survivor parties. He was always welcoming and approachable. As an animal enthusiast, he even got talked into a hobby farm by his children while they lived in Hanmer.
In retirement, he enjoyed being outside. He loved watching hockey and baseball, particularly watching baseball with his son Colin, an avid Blue Jay fan. He appreciated a good meal and enjoyed making epic homemade soups, which he taste-tested and shared with his daughter Jade and daughter-in-law Crystel. He was a cherished “Grandpa” to Ella and Niall, who loved how silly, creative, kind, and patient he was with them. Being an integral part of his grandchildren’s lives was one of his greatest joys, as they brightened his day and most certainly kept him on his toes.
