It is with immense heart ache that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Nonna, Carmela Iacocca (nee Decorso). Carmela was surrounded by the love of her family when she passed peacefully in her 88th year, on May 5, 2024.
Carmela is predeceased by her husband Diodoro and her granddaughter Alexandra. She is the last of her siblings, Emelia, Pasquale, Teresa, Nicola, Guiseppina and Vincenzo, to be reunited in heaven.
Carmela was a devoted mother to Tony (Gail) and Maria (Brent). She was our best friend, constantly seeking her guidance, love and support. She was adored and admired by her grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael (Olivia), Daniel, Emily, Mackenzie (Sara), Sophia, Ava and David. Being a Nonna was her greatest joy. Her boundless strength, infectious laugh, unwavering integrity and unconditional love will continue to bloom in the hearts of her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by numerous in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family here and in Italy.
Carmela immigrated to Canada from San Marco Dei Cavoti, Italy in 1965. It was with great sacrifice that she left everything she knew to start anew and provide a better future for her family. It didn’t take long before she planted seeds, figuratively and literally, and grew a fruitful life along side her husband Diodoro. Her selfless spirit is the foundation of her family and community of friends. Sunday dinner was our most valued tradition, where we enjoyed her incredible home cooked meals and countless memories.
To know Carmela is to love her and the legacy of that love lives on in each of us.
