It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Austin on October 1, 2024, age 94, at Guelph General Hospital.
Daughter of the late Thomas Stone and Mary Jane Hamilton, who came to Canada from Ireland after World War I. Predeceased by beloved husband Allan (2006) with ALS. Survived by son Jeffrey and daughter Pree, grandson Austin MacDonald (Zaya) and granddaughter Elizabeth (Michael). Predeceased by brothers and sister George (Lola), Robert (Lois), and Liz (Nick) Hathway. Survived by sister Evelyn (Matt) Mann. Will be missed by a large number of nephews, nieces and their families.
Graduated in nursing and worked for many years as a nursing instructor at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Also completed a BA from the University of Guelph. She was active in many volunteer organizations.
Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph. Private cremation has taken place.
