Jackie was a devoted mother to her two sons, Jeff and Shawn, and their partners, Jen and Deirdre. She was a loving grandmother to her six grandchildren, Peyton, Sadie, Oakley, Josh, Drew and Maeve. Jackie had special relationships with each of her grandchildren and enjoyed learning about their sports and hobbies. She had close relationships with her siblings Jan, Darlene and Ron (deceased) and was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, Michael, Jay, Tiffany and Ashley (deceased).
Predeceased by her parents John and Marie, Jackie is now reunited for eternity with her loving husband Doug. While she will be truly missed by her family and friends, there is comfort in knowing Jackie longed for the day that she would be with Doug again.
Jackie was very religious and faithful, and enjoyed reading the Bible, writing down quotes, and listening to sermons. Her unequivocal faith in God was always something for which she was admired by friends and family.
An elementary school teacher in her early career, Jackie decided to stay home and raise her children. Jackie became a true “football wife and mom” as she supported her husband Doug and her two sons with their community football involvement.
Jackie was once given an “Unsung Hero” Award by Our Lady of Lourdes High School for her work behind the scenes supporting both players and all parts of the football program. The doors to her house were always open to the Guelph Minor Football players who played for Doug. Whether she was cleaning football equipment, sewing ripped jerseys or providing lunch for a player who was in need, Jackie was as much a staple in the football community as was Doug. Always by her family's side at Hamilton Ticat football games, Jackie knew the rules and could carry on a conversation about anything football related.
A private ceremony and burial for relatives and close friends is to take place. Everyone is invited to a time of fellowship at 11:30 am on Tuesday April 8 at Gilbert McIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Scleroderma Canada would be appreciated by the family.
