With heavy hearts Shari & Kale, Rick & Sarah announce the unexpected passing of their devoted Mom & Nana. Flo was the daughter of the late Florence & Harold Jones. She was married to Lloyd from 1963 until his 2008 passing. Over those 44-plus years they enjoyed many memorable trips as well as homes in Mt Hope, Ancaster & Guelph.
After her children started school Flo worked at Grange & Fessenden Schools in the Wentworth County Board of Education. After retiring to Guelph she worked casually at the University. She cherished her many long-term friends & she spoiled her granddogs. She crocheted throws, sewed costumes, moulded chocolate, painted ceramics & decorated cakes. But her lifelong calling was a dedication to children--as an Aunt who hosted sleep overs & sewed Barbie clothes, a loving foster parent, parent volunteer extraordinaire & to her own kids, who she always put first. For 28 years nothing has been more important than being "Nana" to Kale & Sarah as well as "Nana Flo" to many others.
We would like to express gratitude for excellent care to Dr. John Laird, HomeCare Ontario & Paramed. We also want to thank The Village of Arbour Trails' staff & community members for making Flo's last months so positive.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home. A gathering to share memories will be held Sunday, 12 November 2023 at Cutten Fields in Guelph from 1:00pm to 4:30pm (Memories can also be shared at www.gilbertmacintyreandson-hart.com). In lieu of flowers we would appreciate support of the University of Guelph's "Lloyd Dorr Memorial Hockey Scholarship", which we will have renamed to reflect both Lloyd & Flo's love of hockey & belief in education.
