Richard “Dick” Bowser, age 95, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the Laurels of West Columbus. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Bowser, daughter, Evelyn “Lyn” Jones, siblings, Ruth (George Tress, William “Joe” (Dorothy) Bowser, Sherwin Bowser. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Ruth, children, Judith (Jonathan) Hancock, Cheryl (Robert) Sneller, George Bowser, Elizabeth (Glenn) Young, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Patricia Bowser, along with nieces, nephews and friends. He was born in New Kensington, PA., graduated from New Kensington High School and attended The Kings College where he received his Bachelor’s Degree, Dick went on to get his Master’s Degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. After graduating his first appointment was to Big Darby Baptist Church in Plain City where he Pastored for 4 years. Dick’s next appointment was to Grove City Baptist Church where he also served for 4 years. He worked for over 30 years at the Orient Developmental Center where he was the Recreation Director, the Personnel Director, and a Chaplain. After the closing of Orient he went to work for London Correctional Center where he worked in the prerelease center. Dick was involved with coaching the softball and basketball teams for his church and was a GCKA basketball coach as well. He was an usher at Ohio Stadium for 15 years, a job he enjoyed very much. A visitation time will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 10-11 am with a funeral service beginning at 11 am at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY 4242 Hoover Rd. with Pastor Richard Hancock a grandson of Dicks will be conducting the service. A private family interment will take place at a later time. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY.
