Duane was born in Plymouth, Indiana on July 1, 1926, to Charles & Ruth (Cox) Mullet.
He was an Army Veteran who received two Bronze Battle Stars & was a member of the Killbuck VFW. He served in the Philippines in WWII & was one of the last surviving WWII Veterans in Holmes County.
Duane worked as a long-distance truck driver for 44 years. His career started by delivering milk & he purchased his own semi-truck soon thereafter to transport steel. He worked for Wenham Transportation and ended his career with Mason Dixon. He loved the open road & vacationed in a travel trailer, extensively across the U.S. with his family during extended summer vacations. His last road trip (to California) was with his granddaughter, Ariana, when he was 90 years old.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed all aspects of nature & especially liked watching hummingbirds from his recliner. He was a dear friend to many and always extended a helping hand to neighbors & friends. In his later years he was active in supporting the Holmes County Senior Center and enjoyed visiting with his friends.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Dawn of 46 years, his daughter Ruth, and his sons David and Joseph. Duane is survived by his children Dan, Adam, and Rachel, and his grandchildren Ariana and Theoren. A private family burial will be held at Zion United Church of Christ in New Bedford. If desired, donations can be made in Buck’s memory to the Holmes County Senior Center.
