Gerald E. Hoffman

Gerald Earl “Jerry” Hoffman, 90, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023. He was born February 21, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Slee) Hoffman. He played football for and graduated from Central High School. Jerry was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He retired as a Lieutenant from the Columbus Division of Fire in 1984 with 26 years of service. Jerry could build anything. He enjoyed visual art and woodworking. He was a very creative person. Jerry was a diehard Buckeye fan, loved to golf, play cards, and fish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (Drumm) Hoffman and second wife, Olive Hoffman; brothers, Lawrence Hoffman, Jr. and Donald Hoffman; son, Daniel Hoffman, and grandson, Andrew Pettibone. Jerry is survived by his children, Marjorie (Keith) Pettibone, Gregory (Brenda) Hoffman, and John (Sarah) Hoffman; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Mattson, Kristy Blum, Matthew (Dawn) Pettibone, Laura (Tommy) McConahay, Benjamin Hoffman, Jordan (Markie) Hoffman, and Lynne (Justin) Tillman; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna (Ron) Conrad; daughter in law, Margo Hoffman; step children, David (Carol) Finney, Jerry (Jackie) Finney, Barb (Jim) Thomas, Kathy (Ed) Hinkle, Jeff (Missi) Finney; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Rd., (HOOVER RD AT KINGSTON AVE), Grove City where Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Jerome Township Cemetery.
