Philip Chokreff, age 89 of Sterling Heights, passed away June 18, 2018. He was born in Detroit on June 28, 1928; the son of Nester and Dosta Chokreff. Of full Macedonian decent, Philip was very proud of his heritage. He was a respected Teamster as well as a hard worker. In his later years, Philip was the owner of Koss Hamburger Bar for nearly 20 years, but he was a truck driver for many more years before and after his work at the restaurant. Philip loved shooting pool, going to the racetrack to bet on the horses and spending hours in a day watching Westerns and scratching lotto tickets. Philip was simple, compassionate and caring man. Though he was firm and strong, his nurturing and caregiving nature were one of very many memorable attributes. He is dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Beloved husband of the late Roberta for 50 years. Loving father of Anthony Petta, Cherie (Michael) Plettl, Tim (Susan) Petta, Tom Petta and Jan (Steve Parker) Chokreff. Treasured grandfather of Michael (Jennifer) Petta and Jason (Chelsey Gleason) Petta. Proud great-grandfather of Ava Petta and Landon Petta. Dear brother of Tom (Gaila Cook) Chokreff and the late Helen Hudson and Olga Chokreff. Also survived by many caring nieces and nephews. Philips family will receive friends on Thursday, June 21st from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr (13-1/2 Mile), Warren. Instate Friday, June 22nd from 9:30 AM until time of Mass 10:30 AM at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Macedonian Orthodox Church, 43123 Ryan Road, Sterling Heights.
