Larry loved sports, both as a spectator as well as playing sports earlier in life and was especially active with his children’s sports. He enjoyed travel adventures with Debby and family, bourbon and wine, finer cuisine, great company and most recently babysitting his Grandson. He will be remembered for his love of family, especially his children and grandchild.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Debby Vargo; his three children, Katelyn (Nicholas) Lukes of Grosse Pointe Woods, Ian Miller of Northville, and Shelly Vargo of Fraser; his grandson, Archie Lawrence Lukes; parents, Larry and Hilda Vargo; his brothers and sisters, Laura Vargo (Tom Stone), LeeAnn Smith (Geoff), Danny Vargo (Kellie); and Steve Vargo (Lisa). Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, at Vernier, Grosse Pointe Woods. Larry will lie instate at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass on Wednesday, October 6, 2021at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 21620 Greater Mack Ave, St. Clair Shores. Larry's funeral Mass will be livestreamed at livestream.stjoan.church for those who cannot physically attend.
