Kathryn Geiger Burke

Kathryn Geiger Burke died on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in Madison Heights, MI. She was 94 years old. Kathryn was born on December 4, 1918 in Mandan, North Dakota to Adam Edward and Wilhelmina (nee Braun) Geiger. Living at the tail end of the depression, jobs were quite scares. Her family lived near a golf course and she had decided to caddy for various people. She had worked for the police department in Mandan, ND setting up a filing system. She set up a second filing system for the Sioux City Police Department. She had also worked as a nanny for a Jewish family, worked in laundry service for Sioux City General Hospital, and also a German bakery before making her way to Detroit, MI. Beloved wife of the late Frank Burke. Cherished sister of Josephine Geiger Schueneman and the late Veronica Geiger Gelwich. Good friend of Sherry and David Park. Kathryn is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 4:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd. at Masonic, Warren. Private interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Memorial contributions to St. Vincent de Paul would be appreciated.
