Joanne (Sheppard) Rybar, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on October 24th, 2021. Her journey began on December 9th, 1937. Joanne is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years Ronald, her sisters Patricia and Carolyn, and survived by her sister Ruth Cinque, and children: Ron (Julie) Rybar, Karen (Larry) Zimmerman, Cindy (Tim) Jarrett, Noreen Rybar (Karl Zarbo), Dianna (Jeff) Collier along with grandchildren Joshua, Jonathon (Sarah), Eric (Amy), Ryan (Holly), Ross (Jane), Karl (Becky), Megan (Jamie), Matthew, Macauley and Rayana, and her great-grandchildren: Luna, Chloe, Aidan, Elliot, Oliver, Annabelle, Maverick, Kara, Vivienne, Henry and William.
Joanne was a lifelong Catholic and a graduate of Saint Clare of Montefalco Catholic School and Dominican Catholic High School. She is known for her love of family and expert listening skills and joins 1% of other Americans who are a published author. Joanne was a longtime breast cancer survivor and a trailblazer who resumed her education in her thirties graduating from Macomb County Community College with an Associate Degree in Computer Programing. She was also a dedicated disciple of Father Solanus Casey and his commitment to healing the sick.
Joanne will be remembered for the quickness in which she offered forgiveness, her prolific story telling ability and her work ethic. She was known for taking the time to impart important life skills, her acceptance of differing opinions and famous for her 5 star rated cheesy potatoes.
Joanne’s family will hold a visitation on Wednesday October 27th from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. A prayer service will occur at 7:00 PM.
Joanne will lay instate Thursday, October 28th from 9:30 am until time of Mass at 10:00 am at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 18201 23 Mile Road, Macomb, MI. A continued celebration of life and luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Bear Lake Camp offering blind, visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing youth a premier outdoor experience at 3409 5 Lakes Road, Lapeer, MI 48446 or the American Cancer Society at 2000 Town Center, Southfield, MI 48076.
