August 3, 1953 - June 1, 2022
Anthony “Tony” L. Ribaudo, age 68, of Saint Clair Shores passed away on Wednesday June 1, 2022 in Detroit surrounded by his loving wife and Family. He was born to Lorenzo and Elide Ribaudo on Monday, August 3, 1953 in Detroit, MI.
Tony was loved and adored by his family and friends and brought laughter and joy to all that knew him. His greatest joy was being surrounded by family, cooking for everyone and telling funny stories about his life.
He was the beloved and devoted husband of Mary Ann for 36 years. They had a special relationship, a deep love for each other and were true soulmates. He always called her, “My Queen.” They handled many challenges throughout their lives and grew a deep bond by lovingly working life out together.
Tony was a man of many passions and talents. His business, Tony’s Tile and Marble, provided creative design and installation services and demonstrated his artistic abilities. From the block “M” at Crisler Arena, to unique designs enjoyed in many metro-area homes, his work was always unique and beautiful. Tony had a high level of intelligence and was an avid reader. He always maintained a voracious curiosity to continue learning. He loved organic gardening with his proprietary compost blend and rain-water collection system, which he used each year to create a bountiful fall harvest. Dancing brought him great joy, as evidenced by his all-night dancing sessions with Mary Ann at many Detroit clubs. He also loved music and had over 20,000 vinyl records, which he enjoyed listening to on his state-of-the-art stereo equipment.
Tony loved running and participated in 3 marathons and many 10K races. He was an avid skier. One highlight of his skiing experience was in Verbier, Switzerland and Chamonix, France (the site of the first Winter Olympics). Food was his love language and he was extremely generous with it. Always giving away trays of lasagna, loaves of bread, bags of homegrown tomatoes - whatever he had on hand. He made incredible meals, along with his special bread that he learned how to bake from his Grandpa Tony. Access to clean air and clean water were also a mission of his and he developed a strong interest in air filtration systems and water distillation systems. Tony loved his pets and was especially close to his running buddy, Barney, and more recently, his constant companion, Bruiser.
In addition to his loving wife, Mary Ann, Tony was the dear brother of Jo Ann (Mike) LoGrasso, Donna (the late Robert) Walton, Karen Pruess and Lou (Julie) Ribaudo. Dear brother-in-law of Karen Kohl, Linda Spano (Gregg Stevenson), Nancy Stevens and Larry Pruess.
Beloved Uncle of Bryan (Marjan) Pruess, Christina (Jesse) Toedtman, Lauren LoGrasso, Kevin Pruess, Christopher Ribaudo, and Robert Walton, Jr. and Great Uncle to Lucie Toedtman.
Cherished nephew to wonderful Aunts and Uncles, beloved cousin to his large extended family and friend to all. Predeceased by parents Lorenzo and Elide Ribaudo and in-laws Harry and Mary Rawsky.
Tony’s positive and energetic presence was truly unforgettable and he will be greatly missed.
