Alicia (Alice) Oba Magno, aged 77, passed away at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit MI on 26 October 2022. She was born in Peñaranda, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on 04 December 1944, to her late parents, Rufina and Marceliano Oba. Alice is survived by her sister: Marceliza (Lisa); her beloved son of 53 years, Darwin, and his spouse, Elizabeth; her dear grandchildren: Lucas, Lauryn, Elijah, and Kai; and her precious beagle, CoCo. Alice was preceded in death by her siblings: Lolita, Romulo (Romy), and Francisca (Darling). Before her retirement, Alice was a second-grade school teacher for more than 40 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree from Far Eastern University and her Master in Education degree from Wayne State University. In her free time, Alice enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren; exploring the world with her friend and travel companion, Elpidio (Ed); cooking for her friends and family; and gardening. Her family would appreciate donations to Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church (JAPC) or the Philippine American Community Center of Michigan (PACCM) instead of flowers. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at noon at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church, 8625 E Jefferson Ave, Detroit MI 48214.
