He is survived by his fiancé, Betty Cohran, sister and brother-in-law Marian Bolton Sorensen (Neil), close family friend, Dr. Joyce Poag, sister-in-laws Nita Ponder and Camilla Woods (Don), step mother Esther C. Bolton, step brothers Terrell Cheney (Lynn) and Charles Cheney (Pat) and multiple first cousins and spouses: Elaine Bolton, Niles Bolton (Kathy), Robyn King Bolton, Linda Bolton, Champ Vance, Sudy Vance Leavy, Russell McCall (Nancy), Murl McCall (Beverly), Ham McCall (Candy), Claire McCall (Lenora), Sue McCall Camp (Olen), Shirley McCall, and Judy Fletcher Cannon (George) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arthur was born in Griffin, Georgia March 12, 1948. He was the son of the late Arthur K. Bolton Sr. and Marion Cashen Bolton. He spent a good portion of his life working in Augusta. While there, he worked in the textile industry and then at Augusta Regional Hospital as an orderly in the children's division. He worked at the hospital until 1989 when he had to retire due to physical disabilities. He lived in Marietta for a number of years and returned to Griffin in 2003.
Arthur was a member of The First Baptist Church of Griffin, Georgia as well as the Bolton Sunday School class. He volunteered one day a week at The Soup Kitchen. He loved God, sweet Betty and their dog Sebastian, his family, going to the Main Street productions, listening to Neil Diamond and watching the Atlanta Braves and Falcons. Arthur never met a stranger and could talk a leg off a table. He had a great empathy for others' misfortunes and always tried to encourage and help those in need. He inspired many with his passion for life, having overcome many physical limitations and health issues in his own life. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
A celebration of Arthur's life will be held in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Griffin, Georgia on Wednesday, December 13 at 11:00 AM. Visitation time with the family and a reception will be held immediately following the service. He lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The First Baptist Church or the Soup Kitchen in Arthur's memory.
