Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.batemancarrollfunerals.com for the HOSLER family.
Wayne Christopher Hosler was born in Fort Ord Army base in California on January 22nd 1957. He is survived by his Wife Lori, and two sons Christopher Wayne, and Cameron Michael. Also his 2 brothers Gary, Derek, and Sister Pam. He had a very Loving mother June who was also such a proud grandmother. His father was a Green Beret in the Army so they traveled and moved a lot through childhood. Aside from living in Fort Ord in California. They also lived in Fort Knox in Kentucky, And Frankfurt Germany. He was raised catholic and went to church as a kid. He didn’t go to church raising his family; but was much into his faith, especially in his older age. After retirement he got back into church by volunteering at a church every Monday and helping with food banks and other things. He was also very spiritual and believed in aliens. Lol.
He was also very athletic and loved sports in every sense. He played sports growing up his whole life, as well as coaching both of his sons in youth baseball, and even into high school varsity. As most of you know he was the star Quarterback at Gresham high school. He also loved baseball and golf. Being born in the Bay Area he was naturally a huge Raiders and 49er fan. How that works who knows? He was also a huge Cincinnati Reds fan growing up near the big red machine as a kid in Kentucky. He still watched the Reds every day until his last. Of course he also loved his Portland Trailblazers.
He golfed all the time. Especially with Chris and Cameron. It was always a completion. Once they could start beating him all of a sudden he would need more mulligans than should ever be allowed. One story that will always be told is the time just him and Chris played on Christmas morning because the courses were closed so it was free. Cameron was still a little too young. Chris shanked a ball off the tee straight into Wayne’s mouth. That was quit the “Christmas Story.”
Aside from being a father which was his proudest moments of his life. He was also the most proud Grandpa. He finally had a granddaughter Celina who just turned 3. And finally another Hosler to be the last one to carry the name, William who just turned 1 in March.
He worked at Precision Castparts Corp. for over 35 years and finally just retired in August. He was so happy to finally be retired, and finally do all the things he’s wanted to that he’s told his kids he was going to do for 35 years, and never did. His last text with Cameron was let’s golf Glendoveer West this week.
He loved listening and jamming out to his favorite music. Along with watching some of his favorite old TV shows and movies. His favorite Bands were Steely Dan The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. He also liked The Who, Blood Sweat and Tears, 70’s Chicago, Crosby Stills and Nash, Pink Floyd, Dire Straights, Jimi Hendrix, Bread, Little River Band, Fleetwood Mac and Grand Funk Railroad, Eric Clapton, Eagles, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Willy Nelson Johnny Cash, and Highwaymen. He also loved old Movies and shows such as Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, The Three Stooges, Gun Smoke, John Wayne old westerns, Mash, and Leave it to Beaver just to name a few.
He was a very loving person. He cried very easily watching a movie, listening to a song, or even taking a picture with his children and Grandchildren. He loved his plants and his pets. He always had Dogs and Cats his whole life and they meant so much to him. Cooking and Bbq was another thing he loved to do for his family and friends. He wouldn’t even care so much as to eating himself. He loved to cook to see the happy faces on the people eating his famous ribs or chili rellenos.
His life was cut much too short, but he will always be in our hearts and with us forever.
