Steven Carl Eckman, age 73, of Gresham, Oregon passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from underlying health conditions. Steve was born September 12, 1949 in Portland, Oregon to the union of Delbert and Evelyn Eckman. He graduated from Beaverton High School and later served as a Marine in Vietnam. He worked at Reynolds Aluminum in Troutdale, Oregon for 20 years. He later received his Associate’s Degree from Mt. Hood Community College. He worked as a postal carrier in Troutdale for 20+ years.
Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and especially loved being papa to his grandchildren. He adored going on trips with close friends and family. Some of his favorite activities were playing cards and games (he always had his own rules), going for motorcycle rides with his buddies, and attending numerous rock & roll concerts. As papa he enjoyed taking his grandkids to see every movie they desired, walks to the park, rock hunting and going out for ice cream.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert Eckman and Evelyn Kless; stepmother, Margaret Eckman; stepfather, Nick Kless; sister, Judy Eckman; and brother, Dan Eckman.
Steve is survived by his loving wife Sandy of 49 years; daughter, Jaime Webster (Travis); son, Kyle Eckman; four grandchildren, Tayler, Cody, Travis Jr., and Tylor; dog, Bella; brother, Gary Eckman (Jean); and numerous other family members and friends.
A committal with military honors for Steve will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 from 1:45 PM to 2:15 PM (please arrive 30 minutes early) at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Happy Valley, OR 97086. Following the committal will be a celebration of life at 3:30 PM at Mountain View Golf Course (in Pavilion), 27195 SE Kelso Road, Boring, OR 97009.
