Shong Neng Vang was a beloved father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He was loved by many, and lived a long, comfortable life. He had been married to his wife, Yia Chang, for more than 50 years and had a large family, including two sons and five daughters.
Shong was born in Laos in the year 1943. Coming to the United States to make a better life was a long and tough journey filled with sadness and sorrow along the way. Having served in the military as a Sergeant and aiding in the Vietnam War, he showed his valor and bravery whilst seeing much death and misery.
Witnessing so much trauma, however, turned Shong into a kind and virtuous man who was always willing to help and assist those who needed it. Although he had seen the worst in life, the end of his was filled with love, joy and happiness. He may be gone but he will be missed dearly and will not be forgotten.
