Mary Carol was born to Mary and Frank Santell on August 17, 1944. She was followed by her brother, Frank and sister, Karen. She graduated from Franklin High School and soon after married David Garrett. They had three children, Thomas, Dana, and Bob. She and David later divorced.
Mary worked for the family business, B & B Auto supply as a warehouse manager. She later on in life worked as a server at the Nite Hawk Café.
She was very crafty and a wonderful cook. She had a love of travel and spent many trips with her close friend, Kathy, they also shared a love of gambling. Mary enjoyed being a Red Hatter. Mary loved sharing things she made with family, even selling her crafts.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary I survived by her children, Thomas (Carmella), Dana, and Bob (Thais); brother, Frank; sister, Karen; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many friends that will miss her bold personality.
At Mary’s request, there will not be a service. A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Arrangements being handled by Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memorial Park at a later date with her parents.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Portland Providence for their care of Mary the last weeks of her life.
