Kendra Jane Gibbons was born on February 28th 1950 in San Francisco, CA to Rowena and Kenneth Cook. She moved to Los Gatos as a young child and grew up enjoying all that California had to offer with her Mom and two sisters, Debbie and Marsha. She met her husband, Jim Gibbons in 1966. They dated for two years before exchanging wedding vows in 1968. Shortly after, they welcomed their first baby, Kristin Danielle. After relocating to San Jose, they welcomed their first son, James Phillip. A short two years later, they welcomed another baby boy, Brandon Michael. Six months after Brandon’s birth they packed up and moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. They found the perfect neighborhood in Gresham, OR to raise their family. In 1980, they welcomed their last baby, Heather Cherie. Kendra and Jim raised their children and many of their grandchildren in this home together.
Kendra was a very well known waitress in town. She started her career at Plush Pippin in the early 80’s, then moved to Pa’s Kettle for a few years, then the Quilted Goose for 7 years. She found her final home at Heidi’s of Gresham, where she would work for 25 years. Her customers and coworkers were family to her. She was friendly and welcoming to all. Kendra knew everyone by name, she celebrated their birthdays, knew about their doctors appointment, their good days and their bad days. Customers would wait in the lobby just to be seated with her. She was loved by anyone that met her. Kendra was so funny, direct and sometimes naughty! She was such a joy to be around! She brought tremendous happiness and comfort to those that she served.
Above all, Kendra loved and protected her family fiercely. She was the most supportive wife, Mother, and Grandmother you could dream of. Family was everything to her. Kendra is survived by her husband and best friend of 52 years, Jim Gibbons. As well as her four children, their spouses, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and her sister Debbie.
