Joan Carol West

Joan Carol West, 71 of Milwaukie OR, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011. She was born on May 16, 1939 in Duluth, Minnesota to Carl and Dorothy (Grant) Nelson. Joan has lived in the Portland area for 51 years and worked for over 20 years for the Housing Authority of Portland before retiring in 2000. She was a member of Harmony Lodge and the Old-Timers Bowling League. She was an avid quilter and loved camping and traveling.

She is survived by her longtime companion Roy Warner of Milwaukie OR; sons Scott Moody of Milwaukie OR and Kevin Petersen of Rochester MN; daughters Terry Ryan of Gladstone OR and Carol Suhr of Milwaukie OR; brothers Jimmy Nelson of Duluth MN and Danny Nelson of Gresham OR and six grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 10:00am at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 290 W. Gloucester, Gladstone OR 97027 with a reception to follow at 1:00pm at the Gateway Elks Lodge. Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery.
