Hazel Alice Swanson

She graduated from Jackson High School in 1940 and married Richard Anderson in 1942. Son Richard was born in 1944 and Barbara in 1946. Hazel was widowed in 1948.

Hazel married James Arthur Swanson in 1954. Julie was born in 1955 and Eric in 1956. The family lived in Michigan and Missouri but mainly in Minnesota – Marshall, Alexandria and Jackson. Jim and Hazel moved to Gresham, Oregon in 1994 to be near daughter Julie and family. Wherever they lived, Hazel was an active volunteer and served as president or chairwoman of United Methodist Women and Church Women United. She was an active volunteer and blood donor for the American Red Cross and was also active in Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed golf, bowling, bridge clubs and was an excellent seamstress, gardener, and cook.

Hazel is survived by her four children Richard (Penny) Swanson of Helena, Montana; Barbara (Fritz) Rodrigues of Seal Beach, California; Julie (Martin) Skinner of Portland, Oregon; and Eric Swanson of Fargo, North Dakota; 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 6 great grandchildren.
