Sue Barnes Johnson, 86, of Greenwood Arkansas passed away Monday, March 14, 2023 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born November 10, 1936, to Homer Samuel and Jessie D. Agner Barnes. She was born and raised in Florida. She currently resided in Greenwood, where she moved from Palm Coast, Florida to be closer to her family. During her career, she worked as an Executive Assistant for HCB Construction in Atlanta, Georgia, where she served as president for the Women in Construction organization. She also worked as an HR director with the Ritz Carlton hotel firm, from which she retired. She was a member of Grace Community Church in Fort Smith. She loved studying the Bible and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her two sons, Bruce Sears and wife, Regina of Mansfield, Arkansas and Reid Sears and wife, Paula of Cave Springs, Arkansas, three grandchildren, Kelly Sears, Bethany Sears and Harrison Sears and wife, Mackenzie and one great granddaughter, Rylee Sears. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Gloria Barnes.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 28 at Grace Community Church, 4001 Brooken Hill Drive in Fort Smith. At the request of the family this is a celebration of life, so please wear bright cheerful colors (Sue’s favorite) to the service.
