Gary Bill Posey of Midland died Sunday, March 2, 2014 in his home. He was born March 9, 1965 in Marshfield, Missouri, the son of Charles D. and Jo Ann (Mannan) Posey of Hackett. Gary graduated from Hartford High School and was immediately employed by the Sebastian County Road Department, where he became a Senior Heavy Equipment Operator. Gary retired from the SCRD on September 30, 2013 after serving the county for 30 years. Gary was awarded a plaque by Sebastian County Judge David Hudson in sincere appreciation for his many years of service to Sebastian County.
Gary was a member of the Friends of Foreign Wars Post #8845. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter with numerous trophies collected in the sports. Gary was known to keep himself busy seven days a week. In addition to the before mentioned activities and his work with the county, Gary could be found in his own wood working shop designing and making beautiful projects. Gary also enjoyed working with his cattle alongside his longtime surviving loving companion, Tami “Smurf” Burrows. Gary is also survived by his mother Jo Ann Posey; two sisters, Jo Lynn Posey of Bonanza, Deborah Ann Burgess of Hackett; one brother, David Lee Posey and wife, Toni of Midland. Gary had countless friends from many age groups and walks of life. Gary was preceded in death by one infant brother, Charles David Posey, Jr., his maternal grandparents, Johnie and Aster Mannan; his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Mary Posey.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sebastian County Road Department Employees.
