Emma Lou Scott, 88, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She had been residing the last several years in Bryant at a retirement community. She was born March 17, 1935 in Fort Smith. She was one of eight children born to Reed William and Mollie Pearl (Wood) Mullen. Emma was raised in Fort Smith, where she meet her husband, Harvey J. Scott, while he was stationed at Fort Chaffee. They were married May 13, 1958 for 37 years, until he passed away in 1995. Harvey and Emma raised their boys in Little Rock, before moving back to Fort Smith.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Scott and wife, Teresa of Sherwood and Jeff Scott and wife, Marilyn of Maumelle; two brothers, William Mullen and wife, Irma of Mansfield and Jim Mullen of Greenwood; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Dyer, Betty Oliver and Ruth Bieber and two brothers, (infant) Bobby Reed Mullen and Edward Paul Mullen.
Emma was an amazing woman, mom and sister with an incredible life of love, honor and dignity. She touched the lives of all her family members in a special way.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 10 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday before the service. Arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
