Donald Scott Puckett, 79, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paducah. Don was born in Huntington, Arkansas on Saturday, January 9, 1943. Don was a 1961 graduate of Greenwood High School. He worked at major construction sites around the US, including the Barling Dam in Fort Smith, the Smithland Lock and Dam in Calvert City, Kentucky and the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway Project in Mississippi.
Don is survived by his children, Sherri (Don) Anselm of Chesterfield, MO, Curtis Puckett of Paducah, KY and Larry Puckett of Nashville, TN; his grandchildren, Lauren Anselm, Aaron Puckett, Blake Anselm and Jaron Puckett; his siblings, Eugene Puckett of Conway, AR, Byron (Betty) Puckett of Mansfield, AR, Joe Dan (Barbara) Puckett of Hoschton, GA and Doris Jones of Greenwood, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin C. and Ruby (Looper) Puckett and his grandson, Justin Puckett.
Don will be remembered for his friendliness, sense of humor, and for being a hard worker and good neighbor, always willing to help someone in need.
Don was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to camp, hunt and fish. He was a loving father and grandfather, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as PaPa. Many weekends and evenings were spent fishing with Papa. Don was so proud of his kids and grandchildren.
Don spent nine years at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paducah. He was loved by the staff and residents, and was so appreciative of the care given to him by his family.
Don will be missed by all that knew him.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, October 1 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with inurnment at Liberty Cemetery.
