Donald Gene Alexander, 74, of Greenwood Arkansas was born in East St. Louis to the late Homer and Sofia (Humprhrey) Alexander on November 25, 1946 and departed this life Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in Fort Smith. He loved to work, repair things in and around the house and build things with his hands. He loved helping everyone, no matter the task. He would be there at "a drop of a hat." He never met a stranger, just an overall kind person and was well loved by all that met him.
He is survived by one sister, Peggy Sue Alexander and many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Arthur Eugene “Gene” Alexander, Clarence Alexander, Carl Alexander, Alfred Alexander, William Thurman Alexander, Kenny Alexander and Frankie Alexander and six sisters, Mary Evelyn “Evelyn” Smith, Viola May Franklin, Iola Fay Alexander, Dorothy Rader, Lela Caldwell and Sally Mercer.
A family led memorial will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10 at Ben Geren Park, pavilion #2, in Fort Smith. A cookout and family gathering will follow.
Cremation is under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
