Charles ‘Charlie’ Royal Curtis, 81 of Lowell, Arkansas Formally of Hackett, Arkansas Died on Sat. Jan. 31, 2015 after a brief illness of lung and bone cancer. He was born April 12, 1933 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Royal Lee and Nellie Curtis.
Charlie served in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated a mink ranch business in Aldrich, Minnesota before he and his family moved to Fort Smith in 1972. He retired after 30 years with the Whirlpool Corporation and move to the Sugarloaf area until 2014 when he moved to Lowell, Arkansas.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 29 years, Laverna Curtis; one son, Gary Curtis and wife Carrie of Greenwood; one daughter, Julie Curtis of Rogers; one sister, Bernice Kelling of Wadena, Minnesota; two step- sons, Tom Gepford and wife Alma of Apple Valley California and Richard DeKok of Jonesboro; one step-daughter, Vicki Cooper and husband Paul of Hidden Valley Lake, California; seven grandchildren, Chris, April, Charlie, Chelsea, Tayler, Haley, and Addison and one great-granchild, Elliot.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents,; two brothers, Orville and Everett Curtis and one son Allen Lee Curtis.
No services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood with interment will be at a later date in Aldrich, Minnesota.
