Born in Bronx, New York, Jeanny graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and City College of New York, School of Architecture. Jeanny will be remembered for her contribution to the New York City landscape. She spent over 30 years in the architectural design and construction industry around the New York City area, in which she greatly impacted the campuses of St. John’s University, Columbia University and the City University of New York (CUNY) and a range of anchor landmarks in the city - Delta terminal at LaGuardia Airport, Stuyvesant High School, South Park and Hudson River Park.
Jeanny was drawn to architecture because she loved the beauty and the stories that the built and natural environment shared. The pueblos, the skyscrapers, the canyons and the seascapes were some of her favorite places she cherished with her loved ones. She fed off the color, texture and movement of Antoni Gaudí’s mosaic designs and became passionate about creating her own mosaics. She was always on the search for that perfect shade of blue.
The clean lines and innovative use of materials in Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture inspired her work and her attention to detail. This was especially apparent when crafting together with Alex, Theo and Susan. Mosaics, art and architecture stimulated her curiosity to understand how things pieced together, each unique shape, fit together seamlessly into a beautiful design.
Jeanny looked at life with that same curiosity and light, seeing beauty in everyone and every moment. Her smile was everything. It was magnetic, drawing everyone to her infectious love. It was warmth and comfort, surrounding you with a sense of belonging and family. It was unrelenting and a show of strength, shining in the best and the hardest of times.
“The first thing I noticed about Jeanny was her smile,” said George.
Her smile was an extension of her boundless love and compassion.
As the soul and culture bearer for her family and her community, Jeanny leaves a rich tapestry of memories filled with countless traditions, love and purposefulness of belonging.
Like the majestic sunsets Jeanny loved to pause and take in during her beach walks in LBI, Greenwich or the Cape.Jeanny’s sunset, her legacy, is as vibrant and majestic. Laced with hues of love, compassion, radiant smiles, curiosity and devotion to family and building family, Jeanny will continue to inspire all whose lives she touched.
