William Patrick Perrin, age 89, of Greer, SC went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday morning, November 1, 2021. He was born March 19, 1932, in Houston, TX to Sterling Fitzgerald and Annie Lorena (Miller) Perrin.
He was a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and most importantly a child of God and follower of Jesus Christ.
Pat served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Southern Methodist University with a Master of Science in Engineering Administration. He worked as an electrical engineer and retired as a quality control manager after 24 years with Reliance Electric/Rockwell International. Pat loved the outdoors, whether it was working in his yard, bird watching, camping throughout the United States and Canada, or fly fishing in the rivers and streams of North and South Carolina.
He enjoyed an active lifestyle playing tennis, running, working out at the local YMCA, and more recently in his home. Wherever he and his family lived, Pat was an active member in his local church working with the youth and children, participating in missions, serving as a deacon, coordinating the visitation program with the senior adult ministries, and assisting with the Wednesday night meals and funeral meals ministries. He was a student of God’s Word and faithfully studied his lesson each week. He was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Greenville for the past 34 years.
Pat was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren as they grew and began families of their own. In recent years he became a great grandpa to four little great grandsons.
There are not enough words to describe how much he will be missed, but we rejoice in his salvation and take comfort in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Pat is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jo Ann Evelyn Perrin; children Leigh Ann (David) Elsey, Sharon (Steve) Smith; grandchildren, Lindsey Elsey, Emily (Adrian) Orial, Creighton (Esther) Smith, Brenden (Lauren) Smith, Regan (Marcus) Graham; great grandchildren Winston and Preston Smith, Riggins Orial, and Perrin Smith; sister-in-law Shirley Perrin, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Sterling and Annie Perrin, brothers Sterling Miller “Puz” and Charles Robert “Bobby” Perrin, and sister-in-law Beverly Perrin.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 8th, 2021 from 12:30pm until the time of his service starting at 2pm at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, 4999 Old Spartanburg Road, Taylors, SC 29687. The interment will follow the service at Mackey at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat’s name may be made to the Brushy Creek Baptist Church World Missions Offering or to The Gideons International, South Camp, PO Box 771, Greenville, SC 29602.
