Valerie was born on December 30, 1962, in Arlington, Virginia, to Dr. Daniel and Norma Hazlett. She spent her formative years in Huber Heights, Ohio, where she attended St. Peters Catholic School and graduated from Wayne High School, Class of '81.
She then embarked on a journey across several states, residing in Virginia, Ohio, and South Carolina, where she had long career in sales and made many lasting friendships.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Daniel and Norma Hazlett, and her cherished dog, Blanca. Valerie is survived by her son, Alex Blackwell ; brothers Mark (Lisa), and Brian; nephew Charles Hazlett, along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends.
Valerie was known for her vivacious spirit and infectious laughter. She was the life of the party, always bringing joy to those around her. She cherished moments with her family and friends, especially "tini time" with her parents, and always enjoyed activities such as spending time at the beach, boating, attending live music events, gardening.
A memorial service to celebrate Valerie's life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 3:30 pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville, SC 29609, with a Celebration of Life immediately following at Local Cue.
In lieu of flowers, donations to American Brain Tumor Association or the Greenville Humane Society in Valerie's honor are appreciated.
