Ric is predeceased by his dad Kelly “Ken” Ennis Overcash, his grandmothers Frances Ewing Williamson and Marjorie Skinner Overcash, his grandfather William Earl Overcash, lifelong best friend Phil Parrish, and “brother from another mother” and business partner, Kerry Shelton. Richard leaves behind his beloved wife of 22 years, Leia Ashley Jahns Webb of the residence, daughter Ella Jane Webb of the residence, daughter McKenley Grace Webb (Gabriel Pope, Fiancé) of Cullowhee, NC, and daughter Tyler Ashley Shockley of Petersburg, WV. Also surviving Ric are his siblings Chris and Ryan Webb of Danville, VA, April Ortt of Aurora, Colorado, Haley Grayson of McLeansville, NC, Eric Fox of Blairs, VA, Ashley Schoolar, Kathy Wood, & Kelly Byrne all of Arizona. Ric was an avid animal lover and leaves behind his beloved fur babies Logan, Lulu, Bear, Izabell, Archie, Percie, Penelope and Pumpernickel. In addition, Ric leaves behind many loving friends, family and colleagues.
Ric graduated from George Washington High School in Danville, VA and attended Old Dominion and Averett Universities. Ric relocated to South Carolina in 1997 where he met his wife, Leia. They were married on August 29, 1998 and spent 23 wonderful years together. Ric was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Greenville, SC and was a Child of God. His faith was strong, and we know he is rejoicing in the arms of the Lord. He spent his career in hospitality management working for The Ground Round, Spinnakers, Applebees, Hardees, and Chipotle. Ric was involved with the Greenville County Republican Party and served the organization in numerous capacities over the years – Precinct President, Rules Committee, Greenville County Republican Party Convention Delegate and South Carolina Republican Party Delegate. Ric was an aspiring novelist and was in the midst of writing a novel at his untimely passing. He was an avid musician and could play just about any instrument you gave him, but his love was for the guitar. He loved all types of music but was particularly fond of Blues inspired music. He founded the CBMedia Network and hosted a weekly podcast for many years entitled the Conservative Blues which focused on politics and blues music.
For those of you who knew Ric, you know that he was unlike anyone else in this world. He was eccentric, hilarious, grumpy, cynical, extremely intelligent and down-right stubborn. He had a vast knowledge and love of history. He was a sweet and loving husband, father, and friend who worked tirelessly his entire life to provide for his family. Ric meant absolutely everything to his family. He was their pillar of support. Being a father to Tyler, McKenley, and Ella brought him such joy as they were his girls.
We ask of the family’s community, in lieu of flowers and in memorial of Ric, that donations be made to the family to assist Leia and her sweet Ella in moving forward during these unprecedented financial times. Funds raised will be used primarily to assist in the costs of Leia having a 6-year-old child to raise and as a single mother without the support of her life-long partner. https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-webb-family-memorial-fund
