Raymond F. Unger, Jr., 89, of Simpsonville, SC passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Raymond F. and Edna L. Smith Unger. Raymond served in the US Army AirForce during WWII, worked as an accountant and a member of Simpsonville United Methodist Church, Simpsonville. Raymond sang in church choirs for over 60 years, he volunteered at the Carolina-Georgia Blood Ctr., and for 7 years volunteered at Rochester Red Cross Blood Ctr., was a member of the Masons for over 60 years (Simpsonville Lodge 311 AFM & Charlotte-Corinthians Lodge 1088 in Rochester, NY), he also was a member of the Scottish Rite in Rochester, NY. He is survived by his wife: Marjorie J. Philips Unger of Simpsonville; three sons: Steven A. Unger of the Outer Banks, NC, Gary P. Unger of Albany, GA, and Bruce T. Unger of Wenatchee, WA; a daughter: Patricia Pernicano of Louisville, KY and 7 grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Simpsonville United Methodist Church at 3:00 pm with visitation prior to the service from 2:00 - 3:00 pm.
